My journey starts back
in India where I started my first job as a Business Analyst and after working
for a year I realised that this is not what I want to do and found my passion
in coding. But coding is a sea of technologies and I was still trying to figure
out what part of the sea I like the most, is it Front-End, Back-End or
database. So, I started to put myself in the deep end and started learning end
to end development. HTML, CSS, .Net, SQL were tools to row my coding boat.
During that time start-up culture was on the rise. I was lucky that I landed a
job in a start-up company and it was fun and let me tell you things move very
fast in a start-up. I loved the culture but unfortunately that start-up company
journey was short lived.
I never thought of
working for a big company because I thought it gets very static and your job
gets boring with age and then you die a slow death. But since I was with a
company which was fast drowning and I was in need of a job an opportunity came
up with Deloitte Digital, India for a Front-End developer. I applied and got an
offer which I accepted. But I didn’t know what was in it for me because in my
mind I was about to die a slow corporate death. To my surprise Deloitte Digital
was very different from what I had imagined. It was more of a start-up culture
and a sea of opportunities.
My first project was
an Australian client. Again, I found myself living a start-up life and I was
hooked up. I got a chance to travel to Sydney and be on the client facing side.
This was the new beginning in my life. Things were very different here, the
Deloitte Digital Sydney team I was working were different group of people.
Their style of working, their commitment, the way they welcomed me and the
responsibilities they gave me was something I expected only in a start-up. I
was blown away and when I came back to India the only thing that I dreamt and
worked towards for the coming year was how to become a part of the Deloitte
Digital Sydney team.
My dream came true and
thanks to the Sydney team, whom I was working with liked my work and I got an
interview call. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. I was on top of
the world as my dream was coming true. And finally, I was here and a part of the
Deloitte Digital Sydney family.
I still remember the
first day I was waiting near the lift of Deloitte Sydney office and I couldn’t
wait to get in. It was just like what I had dreamt of and things were aligning
the way I had imagined. My first project was with a major insurance company and
since the working style of Deloitte Digital Sydney is different I found myself
doing things apart from writing code that helped me looking at things
differently. I learnt team management, client management, stress management, Vue.js
and a lot more. Finally, the day came for my baby (the project) to spread its
wings (go live) and it is the best feeling.
Currently I am on
another project for the same client and the challenges that I face here and
type of problems/solutions we come up with are all out of the box. Since in
technical front-end world React.js is a hot framework, I got the chance not
only to learn it but implement it. The Sydney team is very dynamic, creative,
enthusiastic and it is growing and it is amazing to be a part of it.

Sydney is not just another company to pay your bills, it is my family which
makes sure that they do everything to make you the best and when things are not
going the way they have to, there is always Deloitte Digital family on your
side to make things work.
